What are the margin/fund requirements for an intraday trade?

The upfront margin requirement for intraday trades varies scripwise, starting at 20% of the transaction value. In other words, you can get up to 5 times leverage on intraday orders.

For example, if you have Rs. 20,000 as margins in your trading account, you will be allowed to take intraday positions of up to Rs. 1 lakh (depending on the share).

Margins for your position can be maintained as either cash or pledged securities.
