Can I encash/redeem SGBs at anytime? Is premature redemption of SGBs allowed?
The tenor of SGBs is 8 years. Early encashment/redemption is permitted after the 5th year from the issue date. If held in the demat form, the bonds will be tradeable on the exchanges (NSE, BSE). It can also be transferred to another eligible investor.
