When is a margin penalty debited to my ledger?
If you incur a margin penalty, the cut-off date for margin reporting is T+5 days. Your account is then charged on T+6, when the penalty report is received from the exchanges.
In other words,
- If you have a margin shortfall on a trade executed on Wednesdays (T day),
- Geojit will report your margin shortfall (if any) to the exchange on T+5 (i.e, next Wednesday).
- And your ledger will be debited based on the penalty report received from the exchange on T+6 (i.e., next Thursday).
