Why are the credited IPO shares in my demat account shown at a market value lower than my holding value?

Only after the listing of IPO shares (in the secondary market) will a depository correctly reflect the rates.

Initially, the rate of the credited shares will be displayed as the face value of the market rate. Towards the End of Day (after listing), depositories get the actual price from exchanges, and in turn they give closing rates. Thereafter, it shows the exact market values in your DP holding statement.
