What is TOTP? How do I set 2FA TOTP up in my account?
As per new exchange compliance regulations, it is mandatory to set a 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) up in your account by September 30th, 2022. 2FA adds an extra layer of protection in addition to your account password and can be either:
- TOTP
- SMS/email-based OTP
- Biometric (on mobile phones)
From October 1st 2022, you will not be able to access our trading platforms without having one of the above enabled in your account.
Time-based One Time Password (TOTP) is generated by a TOTP app (that must be installed on your phone) and is to be entered while logging in to your account. Recommended apps include Google Authenticator & Microsoft Authenticator.
To set up your TOTP:
- Download the Authenticator app on your Mobile:
Android: Google Authenticator / Microsoft Authenticator
- Enable TOTP through SELFIE Web / FLIP Mobile/ TraderX/ MyGeojit
SELFIE Web
Step 1. Log in to SELFIE Web and go to the TOTP section
Step 2. Click Generate OTP and enter it > Submit
Step 3. Enter your Current Password for SELFIE
Step 4. Go to your Authenticator app and click the Add an account option
Step 5. Select the account type
Step 6. Scan the displayed QR code using the authenticator app on your phone and enter the TOTP that is generated > Enable
The account will be added to your Authenticator app and your TOTP will be enabled on SELFIE.
FLIP Mobile App
Step 1. Log in to FLIP Mobile
Step 2. Go to TOTP Setting in the Menu
Step 3. Click Generate OTP, enter it and Submit
Step 4. Enter your Current Password for FLIP
Step 5. Click Can't scan? Copy the key displayed under the QR code
Step 6. Copy the given key
Step 7. Go to your Authenticator app and click the Add an account option
Step 8. Select the account type
Step 9. Use the option to enter code manually
Step 10. Enter and account name and paste the copied key > Finish
Step 11. The account will be added to your Authenticator app. Click the TOTP to copy.
Step 12. Go back to FLIP and paste the copied TOTP > Enable
The account will be added to your Authenticator app and your TOTP will be enabled on FLIP Mobi.
* Henceforth, to log into SELFIE CLASSIC/ TraderX/ FLIP Mobile / MYGEOJIT, you will be required to enter the OTP/TOTP, or use biometric.
* Please remember that your TOTP will change every 30 seconds.
* Mobile users are recommended to use biometric as 2FA for quick access.
