How can I buy shares that are under the unsolicited message category?

It has come to the notice of SEBI and the exchanges that unsolicited messages/videos are being circulated among investors to induce transactions of shares of certain companies. Based on unusual price/volume variations and other factors deemed fit by the exchange, these securities are shortlisted for surveillance action which can include price band reduction, additional margins, shift to Trade-to-Trade segment, etc.

It should be noted that shortlisting of securities based on this mechanism is on account of market surveillance, and should not be considered as an adverse action against the concerned company.

If you wish to purchase them, your broker (Geojit) must place the order directly on the exchange terminal.

You will be required to send an email from your registered email ID to customercare@geojit.com with the following details:
  • Reason for purchasing the stock.
  • State that you are aware of SEBI's notice regarding unsolicited messages being sent.
  • The quantity and rate at which you wish to purchase the stock.
  • Have a clear balance (funds) for the entire order in your trading account.

The list of stocks for which such messages are being circulated can be found on the NSE and BSE websites.
