How can I open an account on FundsGenie if I'm an NRE/NRO customer ?


Follow the below steps to open an account on FundsGenie if I'm an NRE/NRO customer :


Choose your platform and download the app:

Apple App Store  

2. Install & Open the App

Tap Install, then Open once the download is complete.

3. Start Account Opening

On the welcome screen, tap “Open an Account.”


4. Keep These Documents Ready

  • PAN Card
  • Signature on white paper
  • Passport
  • Visa/Resident Card
  • Bank proof (Non PIS)

5. Select Residency Status : When asked if you're a Resident Individual, tap “No, I’m not.”


6. Choose Account Type : Select “I’m an NRE” or “I’m an NRO.”


7. Continue Process : Tap Continue twice when prompted.


8. Enter Mobile Number :
             * Use the mobile number registered with KRA KYC. For Indian numbers: Complete OTP authentication. 

              * For overseas numbers, proceed directly.


9. Enter Name & Email ID : Use the email ID registered with KRA KYC. For overseas numbers, complete email OTP verification.

10. Allow Permissions

  • Tap Allow for Location Access
  • Tap Allow for Camera Access


11. Follow On-Screen Instructions :Fill in your profile details as guided.

12. Take a Selfie : Follow the instructions to capture a clear selfie.

13. Final Step – eSign :

Tap “Proceed to eSign” and complete the electronic signature process.


NRI bank account details will be forwarded to BSE for further approval. After this approval, you will be intimated via email/Whatsapp SMS regarding profile completion and activation of transaction rights.



FG NRIs, below conditions have to be checked in KRA/GKYC:
  • The client should comply with the KRA and maintain residential status as an NRI.
  • Clients must use either foreign numbers or Indian numbers if updated in KRA and their email ID must be the same as the one updated in the KRA.
  • OTP validation will be there for mobile in case of an Indian number.
  • US/Canada clients are not permitted to onboard.
  • In case of NRE, the non-PIS NRE savings bank has to be updated.
  • The bank to be added must match the client type; for NRE status, the bank must also have NRE status
  • Adding NRO banks to an NRE account is not allowed, and vice versa.
  • Email OTP validation will be there during the email verification stage for the clients who use a foreign number.

    In KRA, below conditions have to be met:
  1. Both Indian and Foreign addresses with all details(Country, State etc) should be there.
  2. One of the proofs, either permanent or corresponding, should be OVD
  3. In case the Passport is an OVD, then it should not be expired.
